On the other hand if you can see land it's pretty easy to fix your exact position yourself, just find two landmarks that you can identify on map and note their bearings, then draw lines from them on opposite bearings and see where the lines will meet. |

but on the high seas, when I already have 3 bearings and want to make 4 after moving, I ask the navigator for the location and he must be wrong and I can't determine the position of the victim because the lines do not match.
