Actually, in a previous life as noble Hadrian's chief Brittania architect, the fortess was the considered end piece of the wall with the 4 mile stretch of Tyne as a natural barrier, negating excess denarii construction of stone wall 'twixt Walls End and the fort on the southern side of the rivermouth...Phlipius Vincentius Dallus
