No republicans and democrats were bashing each other’s heads in. Didn’t see any riots, no bands of roving thugs or hooligans. There were no armed guards or police patrols in riot gear. All the Qanon/Blueanon party fanboys and extremists we were told were everywhere must have the day off because I didn’t see them either.

Worst part of the day was when I forgot to stop at the grocer on the way home.

I did just learn of another catch phrase/slogan. Now we have be wary and afraid of “competitive authoritarianism”.

I'm glad you had a good experience. I went in to vote today, like everyone else. Apparently, all of the precincts are reporting record voting. There was no one outside my polling place extolling the virtues of one candidate over another. The outside was completely empty.

As luck would have it, I ran into a Navy friend. He has well over ten years in the Navy and right now, in the reserves. We had to stand in line and wait and we chatted a bit on current events. One thing that did come up was how well the Navy and services in general did under a Republican president. He told me that Obama just gutted the services. I tend to agree.

Everyone there voting was cordial too and we all joked around a bit. It was very cordial there as well. One thing we all shared there at our polling place was concern over the well being of our country. That's something we all share and can agree on. My concerns are with the senior citizens having to make hard choices on food and utilities and balancing that against needed medications and supplies.
