Poor captain Schlitt misflushed the high pressure deep depth device allowing the holding tank detritus to begin to seep into the batteries, releasing toxic chlorine gas, necessitating a surface from 200 feet into the waiting enemy bombers. 3 crewmen were killed and the rest captured after Schlitt ordered the boat scuttled....a scatological finis to a first war patrol!

There are some conflicting accounts of whether the Schlitty Kaleun or his specialist turned the the wrong valve...but only one version can be considered "the straight poop"!
