I've only been playing a couple of days now butbhave developed a method that is panning out for me.
If I have a good run meaning approaching from the stern close to the subs course as soon as my drop is complete order a "all back 2/3" command and maybe shift a 90 arc in the direction the sub turned. As soon as sonar picks him back up I should be in a good position off it's stern about 3-500 yards distance and perfect for a new run. This is also useful it you have a bad run, parallel but off to one side. Just order "all stop" and wait until you pick him up again. Remember you can stop and reverse your first thought should not be to just speed up. Will this work once they impliment subs shooting at escorts and YOU? We'll have to wait and see. |

Nice tutorial. I will have a try at my next sub hunting.

Hi guys,
concerning dtuh, i am a newbe (Never sunk any uboats 😀, 3 battles done), i would love to read aboute your tactics against the uboats. How do you Plan your attackrun? How do you manage evasive manoevers of the uboats? Would be nice to read about tactics of the experienced captains…

There's a much easier method:
Whatever your convoy heading, establish the perpendicular two bearings. So, if the cvy heading is 090, then 000 and 180 are the two perpendicular ones. As soon as you drop, turn the nearest of these two headings. At >400 yards, turn away from the cvy until back on the input heading. As soon as the bearing of the uboat changes, turn an additional 5 degrees past that heading. So, if the uboat is on 060, but the general tendency is moving right to left, then for a target at 060, steer 055. This will bring you over the u-boat every time, and crucially, away from getting caught up in the convoy. Once a uboat ends up in the convoy, it's best left alone for the AI ships to sink until it comes out the back of the convoy. |
