May be Bellin is not even a village or city, it is a region afaik; only village there is "Fehrbellin" which comes from "Fähre" ("ferry" of Bellin). There is also "von Battenberg" and "Calenberg-Grubenhagen-Goettingen", where Battenberg became "Mountbatten", in England.

It seems my grandfather despised this nobility nonsense, on the other hand a "von..." does not necessarily mean a title, it maybe just a name hinting of where a person comes from, geographically.
Could be worse, imagine being called a "de Pfeffel" (of german Suebia)
