Jager, I usually switch the speed to 7 or 8 knots instead of using the general 1/3 half, full speed selector. You can specify exactly how fast you want to go if you hit the green button next to the controls. You'll get 5km range or so with the type 2 boat and decent speed. Thing I thought was funny about all these boats is the underwater max speed never changes much (minus the type 21 of course). The type 2 handles the best of them all underwater IMO. Thing can stop and go really quick, none of the other boats can do that. You tell the type 2 to go full speed while at periscope depth sitting still and it leaps forward! Pretty cool

A very good boat for a career start and for learning commanders.
The only problem is the limited load of torpedoes.but it could do a good job in the coastal waters of england It was a respected boat in the war for the commanders because it has a very good maneurability, fast dive times, and small size, making difficult the detection and depht charge attacks.

The Type II seperates the rockstars from the groupies.
You must be a master of torpedo allocation and fuel management to succeed in these boats. The most fun in subsimming.

I love type II subs. They last ofrever. I once attacked a convoy and managed to sink three ships which was quite col. But anyhow I was attakced by two destroyers and a corvet. Spent 4 hours trying to to evade them. I finally got out of it with 85% hull and no deaths or injuries. IT was amazing. I stoped couting depthcharges after 50 so in a guess I'm thinking its around 80 or 100 DC where in the water.
AS for techniques. 1. Choose your shots wisely. I would recoomend having the ship as perpindicular to you sub as possible. 2. Don't try to take on planes you will always loose. 3. Gasoline is very important so don't sit there and sail at full speed. (I usually have it on 2/3 speed) Hope that helps Jan |

![]() ![]() I Just finished my 4th patrol... got only 1 Large Merchant with 2 torps my grid was by scapa flow...and I injured one V&W destroyer and spend the other torps at him...but that where DUDs....my Depth was wrong ![]() ![]()

The type II is kinda like the scout Sniper rifle in CS (some of the older kaleuns might be like "what is this CS you speak of?). Now I'll say CS sucks, totally. It's just ****e. But this comparison is a good one and is, theoretically, cool. The super sniper rifle is the AWP. One hit kill where ever you shoot the guy. The Scout Sniper however is only a one hit kill with a headshot. Most people can't hit the head easily. But if you are good then you won't need to waste your money on a big freaking rifle but settle for a cheap little one that works better if you actually are good. That's the type II. It has crappy capacity but is better for the better kaleun. It is more maneuverable. It also has a more Naval feel to me. It is the meaning of a submarine. Noisy, cramped, leaky, and less than ideal. On the surface it is abhorred by everyone. But take it for a spin and have it save your life when a bigger boat would have sunk and you'll wonder how anyone can even bear to ride in a IX without pissing themselves from fear.

I like how you can step out of the captains bunk and look down the length of the boat to your sonar operator, who has turned around to report a contact. Adds a little more atmosphere for me, as opposed to the closed hatches of the bigger boats. Handles very nice under water as stated.

My Type II is popular with the crew because they each get their own bunk with no hot swapping, and the voyages are short so they can get home to their sweethearts often.
A well laid crew is a happy crew. Manock Watching five hour Das Boot in dubbed english is like dry humping, it just doesnt mean anything. |
