Yup.
![]() But please bear in mind that it's a prototype made in Finland 3 yrs before the first "real" Type IIA was built. It has Finnish gauges. ![]()

I've only ever 'driven' Type IIA's, apart from when in Naval Academy mode. I just completed my 8th patrol in U-15, 1st Flotilla, this afternoon (July 1940) and the lack of torpedoes is so frustrating with these boats. This patrol lasted 9 days and after completing my allotted grid patrol, I was in my usual happy hunting grounds of the North East England coast between the Humber and Hartlepool. I managed to sink 2 destroyers and a coastal tanker and still had two torpedoes left. I find it best to just conserve fuel and go dead slow in the coastal shipping lane in the hopes of picking something up. (Type IIA is no good for chasing!) Anyway, after those three successes, I picked up another merchant on the hydrophones and when I eventually got close enough to identify her, it was a KGN, 6760 tons. Oh boy! That, along with my other 3 kills, would maybe earn me a better boat - I dream of a VIIC every night. So, I crept in submerged and let her have it from 800 metres. Perfect hit and she lost way and came to a halt almost immediately... but... she didn't sink. After making sure it was all clear, I surfaced, lined her up in the UZO and let fly from about 600 metres with my last eel. A dud! After slowly cruising around her for a couple of hours waiting for her to sink, I sent in a contact report. A while later 2 Condors appeared, circled and headed off. Then after another hour or so, in came one of Herman's Brylcreem boys in a Junkers and dropped 2 bombs, the second being a direct hit which broke her back. Of course, I did not get credit for the sinking so returned to base with only the other three to my credit. Looks like it will be patrol number 9 in a Type II too!

Gotta love the little Type II's..
I have went an entire career in nothing but a Type II.I actually enjoy having the small torepedo loadout and no deckgun.Makes you pick and choose you targets more wisely and to make sure that each torpedo you fire counts. That and the smaller size makes it much easier to evade while under attack. |

I like them too and have several careers in them. My biggest complaint is how easily they are pushed around in the water (by DC's and such). Last night I watched my conning tower dip into the water on the port side, then the starboard, like an upsidedown pendulum, for about 5 minutes it seemed. It was half comical & half annoying, I was so distracted by it I didnt dive lol. Stoopid Catalinas...

After a loong brainstorming session I have decided not to post the Vesikko images tomorrow. I will take them alright, but I will wait with posting them until I will reveal my new webpage DEDICATED TO THE TYPE II UBOATS!
It is currently in construction works. Should be done by mid September, or sooner. . .

I usually start a career with the type II and switch to the VIIB when it gets to be historic happy times. from what iv'e read a lot of the earlier aces started with the duck in the war. makes it a little more authenic for me and keeps my early tonnage at a reasonable amount.
