According to the news here he was a dopehead who first posted a video on him becoming a muslim 3 or so years back, then went out on a killing spree targeting 50+ y.o.

As an NB. The Paris shooters were also dopehead losers. A bunch of US jihadists were caught carrying pamphlets like "become a muslim in 5 steps". Incidentally they too were losers.
In Denmark there is a (known to police and intel) mullah with a pronounced violent anti western view. In the Uk, they too have known violent anti western mullahs.

Their prime recruitmemt targets? Dopeheads carrying resentment
