Wow, what a city, certainly a lot of churches (BIG). Amazing how well a lot of the buildings including the churches have survived the war, I dare say it was one of the cities that didn't get bombed much.
You are a very lucky man to be living there Sky, keep well.
This damned coronavirus has changed a lot of our life style for the worse, traveling just one example, the wife and I have our Pfizer shots booked in October.
I keep hoping a total cure will be found soon!

Quite the opposite.Practically every house was bombed out and a hollow shell. Much of the old facades you saw were just that, facades, with the house behind having been completely rebuild. It looks old, but isnt. The churches burnt, but as structures survived. That indeed was a miracle. Some of them are still not cleaned and are black with the smoke from the fires.
