I have an oddly spelled last name. I try my best to communicate how I want it spelled and pronounced and Lord knows I've seen it done all sorts of ways through school and business and everything else. When my request gets ignored, I get peeved. My name is my identity. It's who I am. So when someone's gender identity is attacked, I really empathize and retreat back into that same line of thinking. Why do you care how I spell my name? Why do you care how someone identifies themself? Both of those are super personal ways that someone puts out their identity, their who they are. It doesn't do anything to me to respect someone's wishes as to how they want to be named or gendered. Why not respect that?

You remember how to spell/pronounce it because it's your name ... the only one you've got. Expecting everyone else to remember how to spell or pronounce everyone's name they've ever met is where the problem starts. And getting "peeved" about it certainly isn't helping. Same goes for gender or whatever.

I supervise around 100 employees. We're constantly hiring new people as others retire or otherwise leave. All of the employees know my name - because I am the only manager. On the other hand, I do not remember every single employee's name all the time. Especially if they're new to the company.

I actually had an employee once who was biologically female, but wanted everyone to use male pronouns when referring to her. The problem was that not only did she make no effort to appear male, she was a busty girl who often wore dresses. Naturally, many employees would forget her preference and refer to her as a woman - because that is how she appeared to present herself. But in her view, it was entirely our problem.

It seems to me that all too often those who demand respect and understanding do not exhibit these qualities themselves. I understand if someone's identity and beliefs don't fall into the "traditional" categories. And that's fine with me. All I ask is that they respect the fact that mine do. We can live and let live. We can be different and coexist. We don't all have to accept everyone else's beliefs, as long as we respect their right to have them. And respect is not a one way street.

You can change your name if you want, like you can change your clothes. It is not materially hardcoded in you. Gender however is hardcoded, in the genes. The genes decide what you are, its no choice.

They want others to ignore this rational. Its a direct affront to medical science. You do not choose to have an X and an Y chromosome, or two X chromosomes. You have what your fathers sperm cell and your mothers egg cell negotiated you to have. There is no switching back and forth.
You can only soco-culturally interprete your genetically determined role. Different cultures and eras may define masculinity and feminity by different social norms. But the gender crowd today insists on hardware playing no role and gender not being determined by genes, but taste and choice. That is hilarious. And a frontal assault on the meaning of science.

And nature itself. Because we are heterosexual a species. And that is of evolutionary relevance both for our past and our future.

I could claim that by my inner feeling i am a fish. Nevertheless i will find it difficult to breathe underwater. And when i start to try that and almost drown, chances are that i am rightfully diagnosed with having mental issues.

In german..

https://www.spiegel.de/politik/deuts...0-000176418810

and Google translation gone haywire

https://translate.google.com/transla...0-000176418810

So you want to have the right to call the dog "she" in english. So unfair that all animals are called by a neutral article word by those anglo-saxons, no clear definition, unfair. On the other hand you could call a man or woman "it" instead of he or she; so much for the rights of animals..
If i want to b a female pink unicorn i demand you give me the proper article .. and i demand to have, and be judged by, human rights.

Nothing against anyone calling him/her/x self whatever the being wants, but wanting to physically change a human being into a pink unicorn will be difficult. It is a bit unrealistic to claim "the right to be what it wants". There is no "right" for this on the biological sector.
It is like my right not to fall in a black hole when i come too close.. no use complaining.

You've got to get past this cardiac stressful pettyness mookymooky. When the 'L' in my 4 letter last name is changed to 'I' on my junk mail, i just consider myself 2 B a 'Pukka Sahib' for the day...and toss it directly into the garbage....

Personally, I have no problem with people who are transgender. A few years ago, we had a handy man who was transitioning from a man to a woman. It was a bit disconcerting at first, but he (or she) was a really good handyman, a hard worker and very detail oriented, which was all I really cared about.

What I do have an issue with is people trying to impose their belief system on me. A person can call themselves whatever they want and I have no problem addressing someone as mr. or mrs. or whatever if that is what they want, but as far as I am concerned, there are only two sexes: male and female.

Simple. There are two sexes. There is no "other", at least not with humans.

You're asking me to respect foolishness, delusion, silliness. That's too much. They should respect my belief that there are two and only two sexes. Respect science!

Gender is not a style of clothes to be donned or doffed at will. Just because a person claims to be a gender that they are not should not mean the rest of us have to buy into that nonsense. Whats next?, someone decides they are a poodle and now they have the right to crap on the sidewalk because it's their precious "identity"?

Reminds of a meme about the new Deputy Sec of Health...
