I now recall that i my childhood there were these big cracker candies around, bonbons the size of your papyrus rolls above. They were decoration on tables for New Years Eves parties. And they were meant to go boom sooner or later, some tiny toys or praclines or konfetti inside. Well, New Years Eve party stuff.

This is entirely my wife's creation. I'm not even allowed in the room when she is decorating.

Some of the decorations are home made like this one. That is my Mom and Dad strolling down Yonge Street in Toronto in 1948.
