Go to the commander settings and specify the correct path to the SH3 installation folder.

The navigator has a "return to course" command.

Anvar:
Well, when I plug into the Commander the correct path to SH3, where the sh3.exe is, it still does not 'find' it. Even tho' as I said, it is certainly there.
Pancoast:
Hmmm. How do I access that command? Or is there a shortcut single digit entry?

Just click on the navigator icon and its listed in the dialog that comes up. If its not, you've installed some gui mod that has changed it.
