I believe the patrol_0 log file is created by SHIII if you refer to the one in C:\Documents and Settings\*your name*\My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\Careers

What I meant was its NOT created by SH3 commander but by the game itself
Make a back up copy and try it |

I think it's safest to edit while in port. I have changed the names of ships sunk to match the proper nations, especially Polish vessels; so I know you can do at least that much safely.

You can edit Log_x.cfg, but SH3Cmdr will ignore your changes and unless you ensure you maintain file integrity (ie you must have sequential section numbers, and include the same key labels), SH3 will get upset too.
You may be better off saving your game just before docking, going into your save game folder, copying the latest .crp file, and editing the copy *outside* of SH3. Every message is stored in the crp file. As to why SH3Cmdr "has more medals". SH3Cmdr corrects a lot of inaccuracies with the default SH3 medal awarding system. SH3Cmdr also puts you back in charge. In other words, it lets *you* decide how you want to award medals. Either award with historical accuracy, or award everything to everyone, it's not SH3Cmdr's concern...it's solely yours. Do a search of the web - there's many sites (including u-boat.net) that outline the historical awarding criteria. SH3Cmdr also provides suggestions based on actual awarding criteria and will tell you when you have gone outside of usual awarding guidelines and availability dates. |
