Thanks. I appreciate that. We're trying to co-ordinate the next set of changes, and since we are running behind anyway, we'll probably go with what we have in a few days, and then do some more updating, including any further sils you have finished by then, after a few more weeks of "shake-down" of what we have now for updates.

No mistakes in this destroyer download DC, me thinks he's double and probably triple checking the files.

Had a bit of a binge on the silhouettes and only have five DDs left to do as of now. A couple of days and the last bunch of DDs will be ready.
EDIT : binge continued. I will be finishing the DDs today (UK time).

Now that I am on the Cruisers, I have a question for you all.
Some of the Cruisers have prominent superstructure with a taller but less obvious mast. The current .SIL for the NCL Agano for example points to the superstructure for the ranging mark but when the vessel is head on to you, the superstructure is obscured by the rear cables. Given what you know about the larger vessels, the distance from which you typically engage them and whether you can actually see cables at those distances, which of the following two sample .SIL files do you think is more useful for the Agano?

Having looked at a few more Cruisers, I'll go with the first silhouette that points to the Agano's rear mast. It is clearer at all angles.
With the weapons for the larger ships I will only be displaying the main battery and any secondaries that are visible against the skyline. Float planes will be shown. I will not be displaying any of the secondaries hidden by superstructure, any AA guns or smaller ASW weapons.

I need an opinion on the NCL Cleveland Light Cruiser. The model shows its main mast Radar facing to the side rather than forward. Some pictures in Google do show it sideways but this was because it could rotate. The majority of the time it was shown facing forward like this...
I am considering rotating the Radar on the model to face forward for the purposes of the silhouette. Do you think it is something that the FotRSU team should change too for consistency with the other vessels?

Yes, face it forward. I'll see what we can do about the rotation on the model. It almost looks like it is misplaced on the model... lol
Edit: The deed is done, DanielCoffey, radar now facing forward-ho! Just so y'all know, most of the ships in FotRSU (as in stock and most mods) do have rotating radar dishes: Last edited by propbeanie; 07-24-20 at 05:14 PM. |

NDD_1936C has not had an updated .sil yet, is there a reason for this or is it an accidental miss on purpose.

Well spotted. I think I had been confused since it was only a repainted 1936A and at that point I hadn't realised the EQP file could be different too.
I will slip it in with the Light Cruisers and claim it was late out of the docks after a refit.

You left it out on purpose, DanielCoffey... lol - we're dropping it from the FotRSU Roster, since they never built any of that model... We're making room for more / other ships...

Progress Update : I am about half way through the Heavy Cruisers.
The hot weather here in Scotland really took a chunk out of my energy because the PC is in a very sunny spot. The bright sun and heat made it hard to work on the models. Now temperatures are getting back to normal (in the morning at least) I am back on the silhouettes. When I get to the Battlecruisers and Battleships I will be bundling them all into one pack simply labelled Battleships. Now that the majority of updated silhouettes and height/draft figures are in FotRSU I would be interested in hearing whether you feel the more accurate numbers are helping with your manual torpedo aiming.
