I used to delight in sinking sampans (junks) in SHI, but only with the deck gun. At 20-50 tons and made of wood they were hard targets with a torpedo. I rammed one once, for fun, and met with a hardcoded no-ramming feature: he was unharmed, my 1200-ton submarine sank like a stone.

![]() ![]() A bit of a waste of a torpedo but to see those boats go flying in the air, i can understand why you would. Ive only sunk a few with the deck gun |

Hey, if its got guns I agree completely. I am not going to duke it out with my deck gun with any vessel having larger than a 20mm armament...unless I have to...if it is armed it gets a torpedo.

![]() No wonder the Germans lost the war. They wasted all their 25,000 RM torpedoes on lifeboats! :rotfl: |

If you want to "starve" Britain, then there's nothing better then sinking a trawler. You know how many tons of fish Billingsgate Market gets every day? Sinking a trawler full of food or a cargo ship full of plastic cups? :hmm:

I have never used a torpedo on small craft. For the most part I usually leave them alone, since it doesn't seem to be worth the trouble. If I'm bored or haven't sunk anything for the duration of the patrol, then I might go after them (deck gun, AA guns, and ramming only). |

those little bastards will call you in if they see you....Ill remain on course unless im spotted. Then, I just ram the sucker at flank. That usually sinks em, and rarely damages my boat....

I have only sunk 1 of them in five careers, normally I don't even bother with them and I only took that one out because I was on the surface in Southend harbour.

![]() Anyway, this coastal craft idea seems like a lot of fun - maybe I will try it some time. I did torpedo a Tugboat once, but unlike the other coastal crafts, it was nearly the size of the Coastal Merchant so the effect wasn't as cool. BTW - Iambecomelife, did you know that UBOAT234 made the other single-skinned ships in the game multi-skin capable? Are you going to try to make some new skins for the Tugboat? I don't wna to get too off-topic though, as this belongs in the SHIII Modding thread. |
