Does anyone know when exactly thre British had depth charges that could go deeper than 90 meters? According to this website, "later versions" of the Mark VII (which was the British standard depth charge) had a max depth of 182 m, before that it was only lousy 90 m. The Mark X* with it's max depth of 195 meters was introduced in 1943. Which begs the question how the Brits had been able to sink any U-Boats with depth charges before 1943. http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WAMBR_ASW.php |
