just out of curiosity, is anyone else having a hard time finding the correct range on your targets?
still quite new at this sim, but get the jist of it at least and in the vanilla version I was able to get the distance pretty accurate on the first time. but now im either getting a distance too far or way to close, still pulling range from the stat(whatever its called). top of the mast matches up with the waterline on the top image. |

I've never used the mod, but is it possible that they are using some other mark for the height, rather than the masttop? I know some mods were done that way.
Perhaps check the recognition manual and see if there's any sort of indication of the point to line up on.

The mast height figures are random in their accuracy, like a US sub skipper would have, in the "fog of war" vein, in that all countries did various things to disguise their ships and try to confuse submarine skippers with altered mast heights, or camouflage paint schemes, including putting high bow waves further back on a black hull, such that the vessel appeared shorter, and traveling at a higher rate of speed than it truly was. We are in the process though, of creating a mast height add-in mod that would make most - not all - of the mast heights more accurate.

I kinda figured there was some kind of randomcy to it, I was just curious lol. just seemed a little harder to be more precise with the mod, which definitely isn't an issue

I'm trying to try out FotRS, but I can't get anywhere.
Latest version (Ultimate Edition v1.004), got both SH4:WOP and the U-boat missions installed and updated off Steam. Mod activated with JGSME 2.6. Menus are fine, but as soon as I try to actually get to my boat, game locks up with a black screen and numerous error dialogs. Here's an example: Code:
--------------------------- Program: --------------------------- Data/Shaders/VolumetricFog/VolumetricFogPS.fx --------------------------- OK --------------------------- What am I doing wrong? Back to vanilla SH4 in the meantime, I guess.

firstly, mr Wh4K, you are in the wrong forum to get your question(s) answers. this problem should be presented in the FOTRSU forum:
https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=243064 secondly, FOTRSU has an excellent set of documentation. have you followed that documentation while you installed SH4 and the current version of the mod? i am stopping here so you can dig out the Mod Doc and then take your subsequent questions to the proper forum. ![]()
