I would not say Bernie has no chance. I like Bernie. I have been following his career for over 20 years. He is a very honest politician, in the sense that he says what he believes.
He is also practical. In his years in Congress, he has learned to negotiate deals to get what he wants, often with very conservative politicians. If he won, he would probably be a more moderate, practical President than most people give him credit for. But he is an out and out hard line Marxist, it is not a show. His policies will probably scare enough voters to give the edge to Trump.

If Sanders does become President in 2020 he will probably be a disappointment to the people who voted for him. His election promises are just too pie in the sky. Democrats will have to control both the House and the Senate and even then there may be some Democrats who oppose his ideas.

When I see Sanders on tv I am instantly reminded of Corbyn and his pre election promises.

Bernie's website gives no estimate but most experts predict at least $34 trillion in additional federal spending over its first decade in operation. That’s more than the federal government’s total cost over the coming decade for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid combined, according to the most recent Congressional Budget Office projections. There is one thing for sure and Sanders freely admits it. Taxes will go up.

Even if it were all possible it doesn't take into account that all the movers and shakers are gonna say f#@$ that and pull up stakes. It assumes Bernie will inherit a wonderful economy from Trump, and that the economy will stay wonderful under a communist. Fat chance. The market will dive just on the possibility of our President being a communist. If Bernie gets elected it will really tank. Gold is gonna $oar, until Bernie confiscates it that is. ![]() ![]()

Sadly, this drop in the market affects all who have a 401K. To me the 401K is the big lie. It is not a sure thing. It is a risk. A risk that many take but have no recourse if the market tanks, housing collapses or just a poor overall economy. We as workers contributing to 401K are continually told to simply stuff money in the 401K. All will be well. Look at the long term. Well, some do not have a long term any longer. When the market dumps so does their retirement

If Sanders wins the nomination, and I don't think he will, it won't be
Sanders vs Trump it will be Socialism vs Capitalism Fear of Socialism should return Trump to the WH ... Where I have already said in the past that Trump will turn the WH over to VP Pence and take his leave. As bad as Biden looks he should make a come back soon in the South and win the nomination for the DNC. Did you hear where Hillary has thrown in her support for Sanders? ![]()

It happens my brain enter a conflict mode.
During the last month or so, our Danish and Swedish news channel and news program have given me the feeling it's all party at the Dem's and Bernie will be the Western worlds savior. Then I saw yesterdays episode of Cooper 360 (degrees) (well I saw 10-15 minute of it) In this episode he had some former to Obama and something else-I notice his first name-Rahm (those who understand German know) During this interview a text below said something like The situation in the Dem party could be described as panic. This made my brain go into a conflict mode. Is it all party or is there panic among the leaders in the Dem's party Markus |

One cannot help but note that the rise of Bernie Sanders and the socialist/left in the Democrat party is a problem of their own making. Everything that the progressive/left/liberal crowd has been saying for the last twenty or thirty years has produced this moment. The progression from Bill Clinton to Barrack Obama to Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders is more than obvious. The socialist left elements of the party are trying to slide into the drivers seat. Only now when the moderates see a disaster in the making are they willing to try and stop it. It might be too late.
One thing you can say about Trump, he has been lucky with his opponents. Hillary was a gift. Pelosi is becoming irrelevant and now he may get Bernie the socialist.

Your system on selecting a candidate is somehow similar to how we do it.
The Democrats put forward some candidate and then it's up to the American voters especially those who support the Democrats. This raise the question Is it those who support Bernie who have made a political left turn or is it due to something else. Have always learned that socialisme and communism is not popular among the Americans. Markus |
