Real nav Navigator
Ahoy. Any ideas as to why my navigator when asked to give a celestial fix gives a weather report instead?! I have only one point in celestial nav skill, so can I assume that is not having much of an influence?

Depends on the weather. Reports take time. Half an hour is what I have set it on. When the boat is in a large swell and the bow gets submerged the navigator refuses to do his work. (common problem, no fix).
Hope that helps.

Ty for replying. The weather has been ok, fairly calm sea. I get a fix from navigator when doing dead reckoning, but that is hit or miss. Just the celestial that seems to be the problem. Oh well............

Been awhile since I tried it, but I remember he would report the weather every time doing a celestial fix. as it depends on the weather, obviously, can't be doing celestial fixes when you're in the soup.
also, it takes 30 mins for a celestial fix by default IIRC? You could always learn to use the sextant yourself. |
