Copying and piracy is a problem, and I can understand the need to take measures against it.

But when those measures stop legitimate users from using the game, then it just shows that the right solution hasn't been found. Perhaps the way forward is to have protection for a couple of years, and then remove it and put it the bargain bin.

Alternatively, use something like Steam, or some form of online authentification. I was all against Steam when it came out, but I've been using it for about a year and it does have the advantage of not having to have the CD in drive.

I also wonder about the future of Windows. Things have always been backwards compatible, but more and more we are seeing this disappear. Windows 64bit has not been so successful. A lot of people went the dual-core way instead.

I bought my 64bit Windows back in January 2006, and so far, I've not seen any advantage from using it - only problems.
