Can't exit periscope without shooting torpedo

Hey, I am currently playing Silent Hunter 3 and I have a bug that is kind of game breaking.

I go to the periscope and click it to aim with my mouse. The game tells me to exit the view I have to click again, but when I do this the cursor appears exactly over the button that fires a torpedo and activates it. This means when a torpedo is loaded I can't exit the periscope view without firing the torpedo or switching to a completely different part of the ship via the F-Buttons.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

This is a very old and well-known problem. If I can't help someone who can will be along shortly.

First, are you using any widescreen or res-fix mods? If so, try these threads:

Thanks, you helped me already.

I was sure there are others with the problem but I just wasn't able to find the right keywords for the search. The threads you linked solved it. The problem was the resolution fix to 1920*1080 and I just installed a different GUI. It looks better anyways.

The search engine here is somewhat lacking. It's great if you want to find a thread started by a certain person, but not so good otherwise. I use Google Advanced Search, which lets you type in the keywords but has another field further down that lets you type in the domain name. It then searches subsim.com and comes up with good links very quickly.
