Well what ever the problem is, after a fresh install its still not working. My soundcard is working fine on ever other game though.
Creative X-Fi soundcard. Before you ask, yes all the drivers are up to date and no I did not install anything between the time it last worked and when it stopped working. |

Please don't be mad at me for asking a silly question, but have you checked to see if the volume knob for voices hasn't been turned down somehow in the main options screen? This should probably be corrected when you reinstalled, but...

Running SH3Cmdr? If so, check the FAQ titled "Q: Since using SH3 Commander I can no longer hear speech or most sound effects. What sound files does SH3 Commander overwrite?".

Maybe, as a test, reset to default *all* your time compression settings and try again? It's just that every time this problem has occurred in the past, it's been fixed by following the FAQ. Not that this is any consolation to you though.
If it still fails, I dunno what could be causing it. If it were just a few crew voices "missing" and you started the career back in January, I may have another possible solution, but this doesn't appear to be the case. As it seems that at one point they were working and then they stopped, can you recall what happened in between? That is, did you install/uninstall any mods, etc, etc...? |

Jscones may be on to something. I Also lost my crewmen speech recently and remembered that I set sound effects in the Time compression section of SH3 commander to 1. After setting it back to 4 my crew members began speaking again.

Not exactly the same problem but odd nonetheless. I just fired up a saved campaign mission and the sonar operator sounds like he's a little kid breathing helium. All other voices/sounds same as always. Go to SR and he sounds like a little kid on helium whispering. Very strange. This is a first for me.
Adds a bit of variety to an otherwise mundane trip thru Gibralter into the Med.

Mine had nothing to do with the time compression bug. It was a very wierd one off bug that I have never seen or herd before and neither has JScones apparently.
Just anoth good reason to save the default .cfg files. Even if you do uninstall the game, don't count on a fresh install to fix your problems. Delete every file related to SH3 off your PC except for your saved backup ( Known to work backups that is...lol ) Basic, Main and Flotilla.cfg files. ![]() Quote: Originally Posted by SgtWalt65 I finally got it fixed. What was really strange, is even then the voices would not return until I clicked on each officer from the 1st Person Views and give them instructions to tell the crewmen to perform a function. Then little by little it came back. Very strange bug if you ask me. ![]() Interesting. Never heard of that "fix" before. But I'm glad you fixed it! ![]() __________________ Get the latest: SH3 Commander | SH3 Commander Combined Skin Pack Add-on | Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME) Visit JoneSoft Homepage ![]() Last edited by SgtWalt65; 06-04-06 at 06:37 PM. |
