Spending renown on torpedoes

Personally I do not agree with having to buy any equipment.
It is not realistic.
New Equipment would be made available as soon as it would become available depending on resources.
I always up my renown to around 20,000.
Changing your renown is the same procedure for both SH4 and SH5.
I currently have a SH5 tutorial/pictorial if you are interested.
