Should Coffee Come With Cancer Warnings? California Says No

In every cup of coffee, there is a chemical linked to cancer.

That undisputed fact led a Los Angeles judge to rule this spring that coffee companies must provide cancer warnings to coffee drinkers. The ruling cast a shadow on a daily and often essential rite for more than 100 million Americans.

But now, the State of California has intervened, telling coffee drinkers not to worry. An agency has proposed a rule declaring that not only does coffee pose no significant risk of cancer, it may actually have health benefits.

I say no to warnings,as shown in the article, the coffee is healthy,and personally I usually use both coffee and espresso....but not in the same 'time'.

From absurd to - is there already a word for it? If not, we need one.

Like the recent Glyphosate sentence. 900 scientific studies claiming that they could not relate Glyphosate (=Roundup) to cancer, but a judge "feels" differently, and his feeling os basis for his verdict.

That too is a way how to erode a judical system.

For me, fresh coffee as French press in the morning, sometimes a quick mug of a good instant coffee brand that we have over here in the evening, 1-2 fresh Espressi over the day. I do not need it as a booster - I drink it simply because I ike the taste of it, with canned milk and sugar.

Did you know it: coffee is the most traded and one of the two most valuable commodities in global trade. The city of Hamburg owes its wealth to it and is the secret global capital of coffee trade until today.

And did you know this: drinking coffee black and pure correlates with psychopathic personality traits. Must be the bitterness of the brew. LOL

One of my first trips in Germany was in Neustadt, and I have good memories of severing a very good coffee.

According to a German engineer I spoke to, who at some point was involved with work for Lufthansa, Germans take their coffee extremely serious. Lufthansa has a risk rating system for their aircrafts. "D" means minor discomfort, "A" is wings are about to fall off. The coffee machines onboard were rated "B". As an alternative to cancer warnings, they could put up a sign on the coffee machines that says "Out of order? At least the wings are still attached. Worry less."

My brain isn't going to start unless I have a cup of that black stuff in the morning.

I have about 3 cups a day, one in the morning , one in the afternoon and one later in the afternoon / Evening when I get home from work.

Anyway I pay little heed to these kinds of ''research'' they change from one day to another where one contradicts the other.

Agree on all those. No coffee and I'm a zombie moaning "braaaaaiiiins" to our customers, which doesn't help us getting more customers. Another thing is, journalists in non scientific papers, reporting on research reports, as a rule not only miss the mark, but they're out shooting on the wrong shooting range.

We are one of the few (at somepoint the only, not sure about now) that have coffee breaks at work secured by law. (2 x per normal 8h workday)

Everything and nothing gives you cancer, one minute its good for you then bad back to good and bad again then good..

Not interested what they say, drink coffee and stuff them and their gravy train.

On a personal level, I never touch the stuff anyway, much prefer soft drinks.
