There looks like many available on Bud's Gun Shop website. I live in Lexington Kentucky so no transfer FFL fee for me.

After having the Colt .22lr above I wanted to get a real Colt .45 railgun but it was just way too expensive for me.

You are right in that Remington also filed for bankruptcy protection. Colt can be added to that list as well.

It seems lawsuits against these companies may be in part, to blame. Remington faced lawsuits as it manufactured the Bushmaster ar-15 style assault rifle used to kill the children at Sandy hook.

The lawsuits are ridiculous as both manufacturers met state and federal standards for the manufacture, distribution and sales of these weapons. Subsim members have debated this and largely agreed the manufacturers were not responsible for how these weapons were used once they left the retail outlets.

Since Subsim members represent a cross section of society as a whole, I'll assume most people in general feel the same way. While these shootings have been horrific and tragic, the manufacturers are hardly responsible if they followed state and Federal guidelines. A number of reputable gun owners have expressed concern with the stigma of owning firearms connected with senseless shootings which is sad and unfair to these manufacturers and gun owners. This may well be the intent and agenda of those wishing to ban firearms altogether.

As I mentioned, there are other reputable manufactures who produce excellent 1911 style pistols. Another is made in Canada. I don't remember the name but was told it also enjoys an excellent reputation.

I'm sure some of our Subsim members who enjoy recreational shooting, know more than I do and may be able to point you in the right direction with regards to quality variants of the 1911 style pistols.
