Each ship ~should~ have a DAT file, and an associate ZON file, in the Sea folder for damage, along with a DMG node in the DAT... each individual ship is set-up "uniquely", as they say, with an imbedded image file, such as

from the Mogami dat file in FotRSU

However, dependent upon the mod or stock, you might have imported SH3-style ships, or you might have SH4 ships, or modified SH4 ships, or you might have imported SH5 ships, or a mix or all of the above. Not all ships that "play" in the game comply with the SH4 "damage" paradigm, so some ships show nothing when hit by torpedoes. Some show an incorrect image, and others are OK. Also, some ships have one spot on the hull set to show a torpedo hit, others might have several. Above all else, I only know how to find these things somewhat, and only in SH3 and SH4, not in SH5, nor do I know how to work on them (unless you like CTDs). However, one of the fellows that actually knows something beyond that will come along...
