Just another gimmick to win votes from young people who never normally vote in large numbers, just like the cynical pledge to wipe off student debts before the election, only to admit weeks after that it had not been costed accurately and he didnt know how much it would have cost.

MPs, celebrities and business leaders have launched a campaign calling for a public vote on the final Brexit deal between the UK and the European Union.

The People's Vote drive aims to unite anti-Brexit groups, with a rally being held in Camden, in London on Sunday.

Actor Sir Patrick Stewart, who backs the campaign, said that if people voted to reject the exit deal, the UK would "simply stay" in the EU.

Both the Conservatives and Labour have ruled out a second referendum.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has spent his life campaigning for peace and speaking out against military action.

He was one of the UK's leading campaigners against the 2003 Iraq war - and also voted against British involvement in military action in Afghanistan and Libya.

In fact, he has voted against every military action proposed by the UK government during his 35 years in Parliament. He is also firmly opposed to air strikes in Syria in response to chemical attacks, arguing that it will escalate tensions, although it looks increasingly likely that MPs will not be given a say on that.

Before entering Parliament, he spoke out against the Falklands War and cut his political teeth campaigning against the war in Vietnam, a conflict Britain supported without committing troops.

Shadow Attorney General Shami Chakrabarti says the government did not meet its own tests for launching an airstrike in Syria over the weekend.

I am not voting for the bunch of washout candidates around here. I have noticed the same old houses putting up their Lib/Lab/Green posters, year in year out every year the same old posters.

I am wondering if they are so brainwashed or thick as two shorts planks, have they tried some one else? Bet not, may as well put pigs up for candidates as long as they are orange or red or green these mugs will vote for them.

Jeremy Corbyn urges MPs to assert authority

It is time for Parliament to "assert its authority" over UK military action after it was not consulted over Syrian air strikes, Jeremy Corbyn has said.

The Labour leader told MPs Theresa May had shown "flagrant disregard" for the convention that MPs should be consulted beforehand on foreign interventions.

He said the PM had "tossed aside" the precedent, set by the 2003 Iraq War vote, because it was "inconvenient".
