I think it's impossible escape anyways at 1942. I was 240m (!) depth at 0.5 knots, and they still was able to ping & sonar me. At that speed I coudlnt even move (and gaining depth). I tried everything, like always being at such speed, or going to full speed just when I listener he about me releasing depth charges, changing my orientation a bit (not too much is possible at that speed).
The only solution I found so far was, torpedoing (salvos) from high distance - like 4000m - and as soon as I fire them, run as much as possible, on the surface or underwater, or a combination of both, depending conditions, hour, visibility, radar suspect... etc. |

If they are pinging you, staying at half knot is useless. They do not hear you... they see you. Get your engines up to speed and be ready to evade.
