You could try opening up the dangerouswaters.ini file in your Dangerous Waters directory, find the entry "RunInWindow" and change it to Yes.

Maybe you change color depth without applying? Or maybe you have 2 or more displays?

Can you make screenshot of your color depth settings?

Maybe your gfx card force additional settings?

We don't know this - you should check it mate.

Your Dangerous Waters don't recognise High color desktop depth, so we have 3 options:
- you are still in 32 bit color
- your gfx card force 32 bit color - independently to desktop settings
- you have something wrong with Dangerouswaters.exe (like compatibility mode?)

Graphics card was forcing 32 bit colour.

I was having troubles with the sim for this reaaon but despite I had the original version of the game I have pruchased it again in Steam for 5$ and now it is plug and play. Works like a charm and I have no more issues.
I guess Steam version is adapted to modern machines.
