There's a cold gale battering our little house on the prairie right now... very dark out there this morning.

A funny thing happens around here every year. Around November it starts to get cold. By January it gets really cold. And this white stuff falls like magic from the sky. Then around April it all goes away. It's a mystery. The government and scientists need to look into this and do something. I've written letters but get no answers. Anybody know what's going on?

Some atmospheric air stream over the Northern pole rotated slow the past months, due to the warming there having decreased temperature differences which are vital to keep this air movement at higher pace. The lower activity leads to slower air streams more southwards, with the result that cold temperatures showing up there do not get transported away that qucikly as they used to. Its a paradoxical effect of warming at the poles. The same was predicted for Europe this winter as well, but so far has not materialised. Could still happen, however. We have had unusual many gales and storms and way above average precipitation, floodings in 2017 over here.

Sorry for my free use of layman terminology.

The reason your government and scientists don't answer is because you Canucks fashion the cold and snow into ice skating arenas, put a few hockey pucks in and play ice hockey with the polar bears. It's my understanding the polar bears hate to lose.

I think this cold and snow is a Canadian government conspiracy to get some extra ice hockey practice time in before the winter Olympics next month so the Canadian Olympic team, men's and women's, can continue beating up on everyone else.

Could use some cold over here, it has been a very poopy winter so far. Quite a bit of snow this year, but the temperature keeps hovering at the -1C - +1C range making especially sidewalks very slippery.
