hunh?... grog grog... beers?... I'm awake!
Be sure and read some of THEBERBSTER's tutorial stuff for dealing with a Steam version of SH3. Do not install it in a "C:\Program Files..." folder, because Windows will restore some (not all) of the altered files. Like Jeff says: "MultiSH3"!

I'm testing GWX right now. The modpack works fine, but seems like any other addition via JGSME crashes the game no matter what.
I actually watched a video with a guy using tons of other mods to make the game visually amazing, but those mods are either gone or don't seem to work at all. This is the video

SH3 has a variety of choices of supermods, which allows people to choose their preferences. There are 4 big ones you should be aware of. (please note that I've only played one of them).
-NYGM (Not Your Grandmother's Mod) focuses on enhancing the challange and difficulty, while pushing aside graphic improvements. -GWX (Grey Wolves eXpansion) strikes a balance between difficulty and graphics. -LSH (Living Silent Hunter) tries to keep the atmosphere and feeling of the original game, while massivly improving the graphics. -WAC (War Ace Campaign), the newest one on the forums. I don't actually know much about it, but it seems to try and merge the beauty of LSH with the challange of NYGM. Someone else will certainly be more detailed than me. All of them add new ships. The one I play is GWX. The thing I love the most about this mod is that it has atmosphere, plunging you into the grime of submarine warfare very effectively. My advice is to do what I do not, and try them all. See which one you prefer. ![]() |

Also, do not mix mods. Do GWX by itself first, and make sure it works. Then add other stuff later (if at all)...

Thank everybody for the answers, seems like I've found solutions through testing (as always). First, I was missing the so called "4GB patch", which causes the game to crash on modern rigs.
Then, I found out some mods have old files that are no more compatible with new updates of other mods, hence the crashes. I will keep updating the list. Will of course try the new Megamod, ericlea was talking about, seems cool!
