Okay, none that i know but you can change the keyboard assignements from "Enter" to "Ctrl+Enter" for firing torps.

Cheers!

Do you know where this change in firing keys is done in GW? I need to change it to something other than "Ctrl+enter" but I can't find the file with the entry where they changed it (running GW 1.0 still)

Thanks

BTW - kaiserhof - I'm not sure if the 300m minimum arming distance is hard-coded or is drawn from some cfg file somewhere - is that what you are talking about trying to change?

Yea sure. Downlaod Setkeys, run it and search for the entry "fire torpedo".

Cheers!

No thats the setting for FAT torps. For example, after 300 m the torp starts a search pattern. It doesnt have anything to do with arming because thats hardcoded.

Sorry for further hijacking this thread, but it looks like the answer to the original poster's question is "it's hard coded" so I'll take one more stab at my question above if y'all don't mind.

I D/L'ed Setkeys (thanks for the link), and learned from the readme file that Setkeys appears to alter these sorts of settings in the file "commands_en.cfg" .

Since I play using German language settings, I was thinking that I was probably using the "commands_de.cfg" file instead, and I wasn't sure if Setkeys would mess with that file, but I thought I might change both files just in case. However, when I checked I found that the "fire torpedo" entries in these files in my current GW install were different from each other.

In the "de" version, the command entry is as follows:

[Cmd313]
Name=Fire_torpedo
Ctxt=1
Key0=0x0D,,"Enter"

In the "en" version, the command entry is as follows:

[Cmd313]
Name=Fire_torpedo
Ctxt=1
Key0=0x0D,c,"Enter"

I'm assuming that maybe the "c" in the second ("en") version is what makes it ctrl + enter?

Does the game use the "de" version of this file for anything? If so, did GW purposefully not alter the "de" version for some reason? I actually haven't had a chance to try firing a torpedo since this whole issue came up (haven't had much time to play lately, and have been tracking a convoy through a storm with 400m visibility for 4 straight days in-game over the last two weeks IRL), so I don't even know if I have a problem here. If the game uses the "de" version and GW didn't change it, then my Shoot profile should still work and I won't need the answer to how to change the fire key back to something besides ctrl+enter after all.

Hi.

This is a little late for you, but if you are still having problems, I can tell you that the English and German .cfg files are almost identical. SetKeys will allow you to change either file. Once you set the file to the keys you want, you will always get that funcionality, as long as you use the same language in the game. The .cfg file format is actually very primitive, and the language difference seems to have been an after-thought. Using the generic formatting that the .cfg files use, SetKeys should be able to help you with any version of the game.
