You'd have a lot of UPCData stuff to change, but it's easy enough with WinMerge, Bleiente. He'd have CareerStart and Flotillas both changed, at a minimum.

Bubblehead1980, look in the Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate mod, CareerStart.upc, and "[CareerStart 10]" and "[CareerStart 11]" are the new construction for Mare Island for a Gato and Balao respectively. Flotillas.upc has the boat assignments. However, I cannot remember if you get to drive the boat to Pearl after the Sea Trials or not... I'd have to look closer at the files, or do some "testing"... It'd be easy enough to add in Connecticut if so desired, using the Mare Island stuff as a model.

FYI, the "Mare Island" used as a starting point is not Mare Island. The subs actually start from what appears to be Treasure Island, which is SSE of Mare Island. and directly across the bay from SF. Mare Island Naval Shipyard, which was a major sub building facility, is next door to Vallejo; Treasure Island is midway across SF Bay, and is a connection point for two ends of the SF Bay Bridge. The flat, Western end of TI was man-made for (I think) the 1939 World Fair, and converted to a naval base sometime later.

As a footnote, one of my grandfathers was a mechanical engineer who designed periscope systems at Mare Island.

So, another misplaced base in Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific... There's quite a bit of that, on all sides of the "conflict". We'll have to look further into this...

Always bothered me that Subic Bay wasn't...you know...in Subic Bay.

Edit: Seems the Sub Base was at Cavite, got my time periods mixed up.

Interesting, was not aware of that.

Interesting (your grandfatheR), I am sure he has/had some great stories.

He did, but not about the systems he designed and helped implement. His name was Ralph Jacobs. He was injured in his late teens by being tossed off a horse on his dad's Montana ranch, and was confined to a wheel chair thereafter. Nonetheless, he trained as an engineer and graduated from the Colorado School of Mines, and subsequently practiced his trade at the shipyard. My ex had family from Montana, and she compared notes with Ralph one day. She mentioned her grandfather's name only to have Ralph exclaim "I knew George! He was a horse thief!" Kind of put a pall over the conversation. To this day she claims he was pulling her leg - I'm not so sure!
