You can't add new platforms unless modifying dll's but you can switch playables without touching the dll's. You can f.ex. overwrite the chinese Kilos and use another diesel boat in their place just modifying the database and adding the 3d model. Same with the nukes. Some things you won't be able to do like changing the weapon load out or adding a TA to a diesel (well you can add the TA but you'll have no interface for it).
