I turned 40 in 1997. I was single and chasing anything that even appeared feminine. Was in my second year of college after wrapping up my first career as a licensed captain. I was into golf sims back then. LOL

Thanks for all you do... and have done, Neal!

You're talking about yesterday Neal !
1997.. let me see..

I was living in Neuchâtel (Switzerland) not far from the lake, which on a good day really looks like the sea (it's +-6 miles wide) and was taking my first diving classes in a nice murky lake water !

I was inbetween computers and at the time didn't play subs ( I had played both SIlent Service 1 n 2 and 688 attck sub before)

I was (not knowingly) looking forward to my time here at Subsim !

Kind regards

Keltos

Yeah! 1997!
I was 13 and got my first electric guitar, which pretty much have shaped my life.
I was saving money to buy a Nintendo 64, which had 3d graphics!!!! :-o

It was not until many years later I got into flight sims,
which spiraled down to surface ships with Destroyer Command
and even further down under with SH3
and then I discoverd SubSim.com.

Cheers!!

date Wow Twenty years!

That seemed like yesterday........or was that the day before. Trying to learn how to use a computer and I still trying. Funny how things are still the same. Nine years after the birth of my daughter, the joy of my wife and I. Four years before my life changed forever. And in a few days, the birth of my grandson. Were has it all gone?

Graduations Neal! Silent Hunter 4 and this web site has help me keep my sanity for the past few years.

20 years on the net, that's beyond ancient in the internet age.

I was still a 9th grader in school in 1997. Not much out of the ordinary happened to me in that year though. Well, I sucked at math and had to take private lessons to get through Latin but that's about it. I do however remember being late for one of my private Latin classes because I watched the ceremony of Hong Kong being returned to China on TV (live IIRC).

Icon9 More than half my life ago!

In 1997, I was in high school. Not to bring down the thread, but I barely remember 1997 because my brother died in a car wreck in November 1996, so the next couple years are pretty blurry to me.

Must have been subsimming though! Probably playing this!

Loved our tour of SS-244 Cavalla in Galveston last year!

Well It seems I was born one year after was launched! It's pretty crazy how time flies. I still remember the first time I played Silent Hunter 3. My Father got it and showed me how to play. The first mission I ever played was Happy-times. That is easily the most memorable gaming memory I have!
Still playing Silent Hunter over a decade later while attending college.

In 1997 I was in my second year of high school. I was garnering a reputation as a good student. I enjoyed studying and relied on myself to study from textbooks while other students relied on classes. It was good old times for me.
High hopes and dreams.

1997..........I was in my mid 40's, had been married for 24 years (and still going!!). I had moved into the "country" 12 years earlier, to start a farm from city life upbringings. We were heavy in 4H...... Club Advisors, County Livestock Judging Team Advisors (I was learning too), my son had the Grand Champion Hog that year at our County Fair.

I was still 2 years away from getting my Gold Watch for 25 years of service to my public employer...so, you're almost there Neal!!

Thanks for the website and your commitment to being a Submarine "junky" like the rest of us!

In 97 I was in 7th grade, playing 688i, Simcity 2000, SimCopter, and Streets of Simcity.

I don't come here as often as I used to but cheers to 20 years on the web!
