I was caught outside when it hit, all I could do was cringe against the wall and pray!! The roar was deafening a mixture of wind, breaking tree branches, and various items breaking/falling apart!! We were without power, phones etc for over 24 hours, rather isolated here. I was amazed that an antenna mounted on 2" water pipe bent, the mast head broke off. Some of the roof iron was torn off the verandah, one tree was blown over with the roots now in the air with a large clump of soil, naturally it had to fall on a fence!!
My wife's poor garden built under a tree is badly damaged but the tree is smashed. We had 3 antennas up, all have been bent over.
Could have been a lot worse though, at least the house is ok.
It's gonna take a while to clean up the mess and repair the damage!
This is the first time a cyclone has hit the SA coast, IIRC 22 electricity towers were flattened. Crazy weather!!
Glad you and your wife and house made it through okay. Tornado's can be a scary thing. One of the oddest things I have ever seen was a water spout.

The store ran out of water within one hour or so of getting another nine pallets in and more are expected tonight or really early tomorrow morning.
It was reported it had weakened a bit as it was moving along. Hoping you and your family and everyone else in that area will remain safe and that the hurricane turns East as they say it will.

Thanks and I hope that we and everyone else will stay safe as too! We just go the bit of rain from the outer bands about ten minutes ago. The local news is saying that the storm will go from a category 3 to a category 4 sometime between today and tomorrow and the likely track for this storm is it will loop back towards us after the weekend.

Hurricane beach party! I miss those crazy days. My mom and dad are up in age and close to the forecasted track. They'll be having coffee watching the storm go by from the kitchen window.

Odd how the young and aged both think they're invincible.

Did you sell your sailboat? Is it safe from the storm?

Im on Delmarva far from the storm track and yes the boat has been sold. We got a R/V now.

I told my mom she should probably leave the area which incidently is the projected landfall. But like a true Floridian she just shrugged and said its not her first storm and she aint movin'. I told her that this might sound weird but I dont think I would do any different.

Ah well. I think its going to stay off shore anyway.
