I think that depends. In bad weather you can run both electric and diesel, or at least historically they coud.
But Kevin is right. Decks awash in the U-boat operations was often used when the weather was gloomy and the swells were high. Apart from that if the swells were way too high or in the case of a storm most U boats would dive and wait it out or continue submerged with only at times a periscope check. Ashikaga. |
