Colonel Karhu takes command of 5.Division from Colonel Lagus.

General Talvela had put Lagus in command without Mannerheim's permission.

26 July 1941

Strike force of more than 60 Russians land on the Bengtskär lighthouse island just after midnight.

The 38 defending Finns retreat inside the lighthouse and begin to direct artillery fire from the nearby Örö fort on the attacking enemy.

Finnish reinforcements arrive during the morning and by 1845hrs the island is clear of enemies.

Finns lost 21 men, while the enemy's casualties were 36 KIA + 28 POW.

Finnish daily losses: 165

Finnish pioneers assault a machine gun position. (Somewhere in 2.D's area)
