Govt cannot be bothered to enforce Federal drug laws and immigration in some states, but they will work themselves to death to harass and fine working truck drivers for 1 mph over a speed limit.
Actually it will apply to all drivers...somebody warn Armistead.! I recall Ohio was particularly nasty to interstate truckers going over 55-mph; and I had a radar detector in the good old days (late 70's)-illegal in Virginia where they were confiscated THEN RESOLD -big scandal. Occasionally I try one of the newer ones from Radio Shack...man there's a lot of radar out there! I think it saves a few bucks. I one instance, the officer stopped ol' leadfoot me: said he "got me on radar" and I pointed to the detector on the windshield and he just folded his ticket book shut and wished me a pleasant evening-it was 2AM in the morning and I was returning from a callout. ATTN QuatroBBY: that's a good stop: "Click-it or Ticket" signs abound in CA. And on the numerous first arrivals I've been at with gruesome scenery: It cost U nothing to buckle up and may cost you everything not to. I'm no saint myself and have to remind myself on short hops to the store: I'm 65 and shouldn't be that stupid. Also the sheriff's are probably not interfering with the Highway Patrol's highway provenance. One agency does not customarily tread on another's turf although as 'peace officers' they have the option to do so anywhere in the state.
