Apparently so, I was reading this on another forum shortly after creating the thread here...

Erickson own the type certificate for the Skycrane and build them new and remanufacture ex Mil CH-54's, the Italian Forestry dept bought 3 or 4 several years ago , new build aircraft with glass cockpits. Every year Erickson bring 5 or 6 to Australia for the fire season. There is probably 20 + Skycranes around the world , most in the US and Canada doing heli logging and fire fighting.
