Mid 1942 - Radar is useless - Is there a fix?

Yes I am in a IX & FuMo29 is the only radar option so far, I have sonar too but that option seems to be dead, can't click on any icons, even when submurged?

The real problem is when trying to get anywhere, even at night, if greater than 32x planes still appear sometimes, but always out of the blue, overhead, dropping DC's & the map shows nothing there

, once they have already dropped there load & almost sunk me then the map shows them!!

It's this that I would like to see a fix, if you find one please let me know.
