Yes, this date has also been remembered yesterday, in Germany. Some surprisingly good speeches held, too.
Regarding Anne Frank, this is also an eye opener: http://www.spiegel.de/einestages/ann...a-1073225.html Seems she had asked for a Visum, but a lot of countries closed their borders, or had fixed very low quota, for immigrants. There was also antisemitism..
