Ain't skeered of no snow.

It's the ice that worries me.
Ice storms are much worse than snow storms.

Stay safe down in the Carolinas, Armistead.

For us, the schools were called off because of the forecast, I was off anyway, and my wife took off work early. Where we live, we have to stay prepared, so it's really just another day for us. We just planned on staying home until the streets are cleared.
Yeah, you're in it too, there are thousands of motorists stranded on I-75

Kentucky State police said thousands have been in a standstill on Interstate 75 for more than 17 hours.

The interstate is completely shutdown for more than 20 miles between Mount Vernon and London. Kentucky police have shutdown traffic at mile marker 48 northbound in London City and mile marker 68 in Mount Vernon.

Police said there are currently no hotel vacancies in London, and all roadways in London remain unsafe for travel. As temperatures continue to drop this evening, roadways will continue to become more difficult to navigate.

Law enforcement is asking people to please stay indoors and off the roadways.

I-75 North is closed at Exit 41. Right now, all traffic will divert to travel on Kentucky State Route 461.
I'm off to Columbus, GA in the am, hopefully it will all be past by then.

wolf_howl15 Jonas is a whale...

of a storm. It moved in over the top of the Poconos and is now just sitting there. I'm right smack in the middle of it.

Auntie Em, Auntie Em.

It's a Nor'easter!

Precisely why I moved to CA! Can't stand the the snow and wouldn't want to be in an eighteen-wheeler on I-80 in PA today headed for NYC.

Exactly why I reminded dispatch of this storm on Weds and got an assignment to GA. No way I'm driving in that mess.

My daughter lives 30 miles south of DC, says they have 14 inches so far, with up to 11 more on the way.

Not sure where you are headed in GA Neil, but I have a sister who lives in Woodstock out side of Atlanta, They are supposed to be near 50 degrees on Sunday.

Where are you in the Poconos? Are you getting hammered?
25 miles south of Wilkes-Barre. Right at the intersection of interstates 80 & 81.

So far it's a typical snowstorm. We have accumulated about a foot since yesterday evening and it's forecast to continue at 1 to 2 inches per hour until 01:00 Sunday morning. It should taper off by this evening and I don't think we'll see that much myself. If we get the high winds they're talking about, it'll blow this shtuff everywhere!

The folks in Buffalo and Erie are probably laughing at us.

Eddie, they are there on duty come rain, sleet, or snow. Never do they waiver from doing their duty for those Unknowns that kept us free.

As for the storm... yeah we got hit pretty hard. Not so much by the snow but by the 40 mph winds. Drifting snow was and still is the worst of it, even tho we got about 10"s that I can figure. Delaware is in a State of Emergency until Sunday morning.

I know the state doesn't have the equipment to handle this, but I also know they don't know how to plow with what they do have. They make one swath down a road and to hell with any other lanes of travel. They won't even clean an intersection. I was out and happened to see 4 Del Dot dump truck come out of their yard. Not one was spreading salt or dropping their plows to clean off snow. Not did any after the first truck drop their plows to clean the next lane over. Sad to say the least. When I plowed for the town where I lived up north you plow never came up once you were out on the highways until it was necessary to do so. And you cleaned the intersection in the direction you were going. A plow coming the other way did the same for the way he was headed.

To top if off, small comercial plows cleaning HOAs streets are pushing snow across major highways. That alone will get you a ticket. It's against the law.
