Switching from conventional to nuclear deterence would allow him to cut military spending and send more resources to fixing the economy. So in a way this can lead to a more stable, prosperous and less dangerous DPRK.

The problem is in the tech profilation, they already share missile tech they have (not top of the line but it works) and we don't want them to share nuclear tech.
