Auto calc battle option?

This is not the case. I was wondering what the "auto sink merchants" comment was in the update for 1.09. I just played an axis battle of atlantic mission where I sunk a cruiser and a destroyer, then waited one turn before withdrawing all of my subs. I was awarded warship points but zero merchant points.
