OK, so.
Win 8.1 system, running DosBox 0.74. I have AOD installed to a folder, "AOD", on my C drive. Not in a subdir, the AOD directory is on C:\ itself. I have downloaded the expansion and the 1.2 patch from here on subsim. I unzip the expansion, mount a directory aodtemp on my desktop as A in dosbox, and run aodexp.bat as prompted. That works. I then try to run install.exe as I am supposed to. That does not work. It keeps telling me AOD is not installed at the directory I'm pointing it at, no matter that it is. Um, huh? |

This is a long shot, but (make a bakup first) try installing the expansion to the same directory that the main program is ---> C:\AOD and then run the install. If the unpacked install files remain in aodtemp they might not find the main game directory.

It still breaks. The installer goes "Illegal command: C:\CHUNK\GK.COM" and kicks me to prompt.
When I mount C:\AOD in dosbox as C:\, it still blurps at me, saying "unable to extract resource file" before kicking me to prompt. *sighs* It feels like someone broke the installer code or something, because it's also muttering about null pointer assignments. |

Here's some more tips, from this very own forum:

First go to the expansion disk directory (in dosbox)
then type "unchunk resource.000 c:\your install directory Then you go to your 1.2 pach directory and there you do the same with the resource.000 and .001 ![]() Michael |

![]() I had the same issue yesterday and just solved it. Does your AOD Expansion folder contain a bunch of BAT files, Resource 000 and a "CHUNK" folder? If so, you need to move all the contents of the "CHUNK" folder into the main folder of your AOD Expansion folder (with the BAT and Resource 000 Files). Unchunk uses the exe in the CHUNK folder, so it needs to be in the same directory when you unchunk resource.000 Gute Jagd, Kamerad! |
