Hi Subsimmers
Some of you guys sound like you have eaten more sea salt than I have eaten rice. Thank you for your warm welcome and for the many all the links and recommendations of mods and GWX enhancements. I definitely will check them out. BTW, my background is in Flight Sims and lately into SteelBeasts Pro PE. I am a guardian of the aged Digital Integration's Tornado flight simulator. DOS game and 1993(!) Game of the Year. I am a member of a Virtual Unit named Dogs Of War VU. Not quite yet a member of a wolf pack. Coming back to SteelBeasts, this is a game that has been around since 2000(!). And SH3 has been around since 2005 and STILL going strong. Wunderbar! I think that gamers and modders are among the most patient people in the world because we are willing to spend hours to tweak a game or to get the installation right. LOL! I am amazed at the tons of mods on subsim.com. In fact, I even have SH4, SH4-addon for U-boats and SH5. But I would like very much to enjoy SH3 first because my laptop can handle it. Also, yesterday I celebrated my father's 83rd birthday. He was the man responsible for making me a WW2 buff and a lover of all things war. I still remember reading his book on Gunther Prien's sinking of the HMS Royal Oak in Scapa Flow. For his birthday, I bought the Das Boot Directer's Cut 2-DVDs set. 3 hours of pure immersion. Pun intended. So anyway, I hope to play SH3 more these days in my spare time. The ultimate for me would be to (1) turn all settings to hardcore settings; (2) take out my pen, paper, protractor, ruler and compass and do manual plotting; (3) sink a ship using the old-fashioned manual mathematics way of targeting. The way the Commanders did it. Wow!!!! After that, the only thing left for me to do in my spare time is to build a mock-U-boat-submarine interior like the one Wolfgang Petersen built for the movie. Harharhar! Frankie Kam Malaysia |
