In tmo 2.5 sound folder I took out the (torp tga) 256 kb...I have also done more testing..In bad weather at 18 ft depth and high speed the targets only react when the 1st torpedo hits..In calm weather at 10+ ft depth they seem to react the same at high speed but on low speed they just travel on...At least those that can..

I've found that attacking from 45º in front of the track (torpedo track angle (TTA) of 45º) as in a John P Cromwell attack, if the weather is calm during the daytime, targets see Mark 14s just about all the time and successfully avoid.
Of course you can anticipate that and shoot multiples to cover their avoidance path, but why would you when picking a different attack would mean you don't have to waste torpedoes?

One of the tricks I use is move in front of a convoy and as they pass over me I pop up and empty bow and stern tubes.
