Wow, this is pretty amazing. In 1980, when I was 14 years old, a friend gave me this book, which I still have, called 'Ghostboat'. I've probably read it over a dozen times over the years. This is the book that started my love of the US fleet sub and later, submarines in general. I have amassed quite a collection of submarine related books, videos, models, etc. all because of this book. And now it's amazing to learn that a movie was made from it. I've always daydreamed of this being done. In fact, I always pictured Parnell Roberts from the 'Trapper John, M.D.' tv show in the role of Jack Hardy. Hopefully, it will be released commercially. I can live with the fact that it's on a British sub and not a fleet boat.

You're right Kapitan, the boat used in Ghostboat was in fact the one used in the movie U-571 made up a bit to look like a British boat. I still have Ghostboat recorded on my HD/DVD player and have yet to get round to actually watching it!

hey there
just wanted you to know
YES we did film this in ITALY in a german sub
it was also the same sun as in U571
which infact was just a great big tin pot in a field in the film studios
the whole sub is built on springs so when it shook it was really shaking
it wasnt inside because the movement from when it shakes would make anything around it shake too
so has to free stand in a field
all the sea scenes were filmed in malta
just a few details for you
by the way i played Callum
david jason saved my life
kind of him wasnt it

Mark, thanks for the info. I still haven't got round to watching it yet, but hopefully will make time to watch it in the next week or so.

Cheers.
